What yugioh cards should I buy?

I recently bought a rise of the dragon lords deck. The only cards I added to it were barrier statue of the heavens, straight flush, gravi-crush dragon, and flash of the forbidden spell. I want to buy some more cards, but I don't know which booster pack or starter deck to buy. Could someone please give me some advice as to what booster pack or starter deck would compliment my rise of the dragon lords deck?

not sure if they are worth anything right now... they have not been out for very long and you can still get them in flea markets and such... you may need to keep them for a few more years until they are actually out of print in order for them to be come of any value... to a collector ... you can try ebay or coin/hobby/collector's stores to sell them...

I'm trying to get the ones from the metal raiders pack and any of them from the packs not listed in the online store. They have packs in the store with pictures of kaiba and yugi. are those the ones with cards from magic ruler or medal raiders? i want harpie lady, cyber harpie, harpie lady sisters, elegant egotist, magic cylinder, and magic jammer. im a beginner at this game so go easy on me with this please. thank you.

got the game love it had same problem got to www.duelcity.com which will give you all the info you need in about all the booster packs. i believe there are still some missing of the new ones, but most of them are with full listings of what is in each pack .So you know which ones you need to open to get the cards you need. hope this helps.

Exodia NEcross special rare mint, all three blue eyes white dragon. old version blue eyes is ULTRA rare, new version blue eyes are Secret rare, mint condition.

See if you can find cards like the ones that you're talking about on E-bay and see what other people are getting for them.

You can also look up the price of any card in a book called BECKETT yugioh. They update there books every moth or so.

Last check with the card shop and see what they will offer you. Most of the time it's alittle under the price of the card. They have to make monney too.

Man, I need to sell mine too. However, you probably won't find very good sellback rates at your local shop, since the game's popularity has dwindled significantly. Try bundling rarer cards together on eBay. (I've even seen people sell common cards in boxes, like "$__ for 1000 cards!" Just an idea.

it really depends on the card because depending on what it is you might get more or even less.... cause even some common cards are worth more thatn rare or even holo cards.
Reply:The normal going rate for a card around here is normally determined by a magazine called Scry. It deals with Magic:The Gathering, Yugioh and the other TCG/CCG's out there. If you want to get some listed straight to me at jprepka@yahoo.com and I can get just a generalized list of how much they could be...I get Scry once in a while and have one right now that is only like 2 months old so I could give you a generalized answer on there.
Reply:cards sell for on average 20 cents a peace. by doing the math 0.20 x 280, you would brake even if you got 56 dollars for the whole lot. however it also depends on the buyer and how much they are willing to pay.

I am a big fan of yugioh and have a lot of good Japanese cards. I live in the USA and was wondering if you could use them in tournaments.

Can you use Japanese and English cards in one Yugioh Deck?
No. The US and pretty much every other country(except Japan and a few Asian countries) has their YGO cards printed by Upper Deck Entertainment. UDE has its own technique for making the cards and OCG cards(i.e. Japanese cards) look different when compared with an UDE made YGO card. Because of this(and the delay in release) UDE does not allow any non-UDE printed cards to be used in tournaments. Even if Japanese cards were allowed, you'd only be able to use cards that were released by UDE already. The Japanese can use any UDE made cards...except the TCG exclusive cards like Allure of Darkness until they're released in the OCG.
Reply:Sadly you can't. I just Perfected my Virus Control Deck but majority of the cards were jap so yea.

I believe the 2 main reasons why you can't use jap cards in tournaments is becuase

1. They are extremely cheap! Cheap meaning unfair. In TCG (english) to get a Crush Card Virus is nealry impossible. The only 3 ways to get it are to have participated in Shonnen Jump Tournament, buy it as a single for around $300 or to buy endless packs of yugioh gold till you get it. In OCG (japanese) it is available in Premium Pack 4 (limited edition pack), from a Video game or one of 3 structure decks as a common. The structures are Cruse of Darkness, Kaiba and Kaiba Volume 2.

2. Players can just make up the meanings of the card and if that is the case then an english copy of the card must be provided.

What Yugioh Cards are good for a beatdown deck?
Firstly, there are three good beatdown decks now in Yu-Gi-Oh: Beastdown, Monarchs, and Warrior Toolbox.

Beastdown: Its a straightforward attacking deck. Enraged Battle Ox gives your Beasts and Beast-Warriors trample and Bazoo The Soul-Eater is usually the big finisher. You remove a few big guys for Bazoo's effect and use Return From The Different Dimension to bring them back for the win.

Monarchs: This deck has been winning tournaments alot lately. Its basically just destroying your opponent's resources with the Monarchs abilities. Treeborn Frog is the MVP of this deck and Cyber Dragon plays a strong supportive role.

Warrior Toolbox: This is probably one of the oldest decks still played. It relies on bringing out small monsters with big effects, like Maurauding Captain, and having a monster based solution to nearly any problem. Gravekeeper's Spy makes this deck the success it is. It not only brings out another monster but gives you tribute fodder at the same time.

Generally good beatdown cards:

-Bazoo The Soul-Eater

-Cyber Dragon

-Zaborg The Thunder Monarch

-Exiled Force

-any vanilla 1900 ATK monster

-Goblin Attack Force and the rest of the Attack then switch to defense mod guys

-Gravekeeper's Spy or any other 2000 defense monster

-Treeborn Frog

-Fissure or Smashing Ground

-Creature Swap

-Magic Cylinder

-Forced Back

Note: In the next set, Strike of Neos, there will be a 4 star 2000 ATK Normal Monster called Genetic Werewolf. It will be the first 4 star 2000 ATK monster with no drawbacks and Beastdown will likely surge in popularity.

Reply:I use monsters like Luster Dragon and Gemini Elf, ones that have 1900 ATK. Problem is, they don't have any special abilities. That's why I also put in a lot of traps and spells to protect my monsters and life points.

I suggest: Trap Hole X3, Sakuretsu Armor X3, Fissure X3, Fairy Meteor Crush, Big Bang Shot. I'd be careful and avoid putting in too many equip spell cards, because if your monsters that are attached to them are destroyed, you lose the equip as well, which means you've lost more than 1 card, compared to your opponent, who would have likely lost just one.

Keeping a card advantage is always important, no matter what type of deck you run.

you can tell by the picture. if it is like shiny and really plastic feeling its fake. another way is if you look at the pic, if its fake it has like little computer dots so you can totally tell if its fake and by looking at the back of the card. if the surrounding brown is light colored its fake....
Reply:One easy way to see it, when you can pull of the card from the back cover its faked. When there is totally no friction on the card, and its totally shiny its also faked. There is also a small silver or gold shiny square at the bottom right. If it is there it should be real, if its not. Hope it helped.

I made new friends and they still play it. It has been 4 years seens i played it so i decided to get my old cards and battle. Then they were looking through my cards and said moster reborn was banned and so was witch of the black forest.

some cards were banned or limited because they were way overused or just too powerful. monster reborn will let you summon a monster from your graveyard or even a monster from your opponent's graveyard and there's no cost to that too. witch of the black forest lets you search out many monster with high atk and low def (summoned skull. 2500 atk, 1200 def, 6 stars). so pulling out a tough monster is easier with the witch. other cards like rageki, dark hole, and harpie's feather duster are banned also because their effects are very powerful and have no cost to them. the ban list also makes the game more challenging and not ensure a whole lot of short and easy wins in a duel
Reply:Certain cards were banned because they were overused and too powerful. Witch let you find a monster with low defense (Jinzo, etc) Cards like Monster Reborn, Raigeki, Dark Hole, Harpie's Feather Duster, etc have no cost and amazing effects.

I have a couple yugioh cards and I decided to sell them to some kid for 5 bucks- there are like- 94. Most are in mint condition. They were from like- 5 years ago, though. I would just like to know- how much should this be worth???? Most are magic cards. (green) I honestly don't know anything- how to play- and how much it is actually worth. About 35 are covered in card protectors- I'll name some:

-Red eyes black dragon (mint condition)

-blue eyes white dragon (a bit tattered)

is the blue eyes supposed to be a bit darker?????

ok my question is why do you think that preferable pokemon and yugiogh cards are so looked down on fom otrher collectables when they show math skills to kids , logic and problem solving in deck building and over all just really helpful in teaching a kid i showed my little sis how to play when she was young i dont know if that has anything but now she is in G.T. classes what is your opnion on yugioh cards?

There looked down apon mostly because of the shows and the toys that are released along side the card game. So older people are playing magic the gathering rather than Yugioh and Pokemon. Even though the games kids fundamental skills like math. I like playing Yugioh it's a good game to play with your friends and the cards they come up with are interesting to look at.

Reply:My brother is in GT and he's horrible at Yu-Gi-Oh. He's actually better at Magic. Yu-Gi-Oh is good for improving math skills but things get confusing when you try to explain the Spell/Trap speeds to an 8 year old. I was trying to explain to a kid that Magic cards(the Yu-Gi-Oh kind) are the same as Spell cards. Truthfully Magic The Gathering is a better teaching tool. You start with 20 life and the creatures power and toughness(attack and defense) don't usually top 5. Regardless, card games teach kids the art of resource managemnet. Which is a good thing.

But honestly, I think you don't learn anything from them. It was more social. What cards to trade with who for what, Battling strangers, etc. But you really already need those skills to play. G.T. is based not on what you know or your skills, but it's based on how you think. I knew complete idiots who were in G.T. with me. It may help a little, but I don't think that's how she got into G.T.

No. Cards never have any effects that aren't listed on the cards. It happens alot in the anime but only to add to the drama of the duel. In reality I'm afraid things are much more straight forward and less interesting.

It's kind of difficult to make a deck from pure commons. Most of the good cards aren't commons. However, there are some good common cards.

A deck you could make could be one of pure Normal Monsters. They could consist of Mad Dog Of Darkness, Archfiend Soldier, Luster Dragon, and the like

Get Ultra Pro/BCW card Sleeves. I prefer BCW, because they don't peel, and Ultra Pro DOES peel, just not as fast. You can get them at your local card shop/dealer or at walmart/target. Do NOT put them in an electronic card shuffler, the cards are to big, and the card shuffler would probably rip them.

yeah its in strike of neos grandmaster is kind of hard to get thought but the rest of the six samurais are easy to get and are found in strike of neos good luck with that though yeah and pretty much all the cards that will support a six samurai deck is in strike of neos but a six samurai deck is going to need cyber dragons so you can find that in cybernetic revolution, the 2006 collector tins, or duelist pack zane.

first i suggest make a deck theme and revolve ur deck around that, since there r so many types of cards to revolve ur deck around (exodia, e-hero, d-hero, destiny board, dark world, etc.) i suggest u buy one of the yugioh games and make a deck and see wat ur best with, becuz i dont rly think there can be a perfect deck, it depends too much on wat kind of duelist u r and how u use ur cards.

WatEVA, anyway, I believe that cards are based on 3 things and I'll breifly explain before I talk about the deck.

Firstly, Skill, even if you have 3 Blue-Eyea on your field, Polymerization and Ultimate Dragon in your hand, but you have no skills, you might be unaware and your opponent can just use Ring of Destruction/ Dian Keto combo.

Secondly, Luck. You have to be lucky, imagine if you have a 2 Toon Table of Contents and 1 Toon World, your deck is a Solid Toon Deck, if the cardsare at the bottom, you're dead.

Lastly, the cards in your deck. ~ Need I explain?

Okay, I think Toon Deck's are cool, but throw in a couple of low-leveled Dragons/Spellcasters and Toon Table of Content`s! (HUGE EMPHASIS ON THIS,) Okay, now I reccomend 3 Polymerizations, 3 Toon Mermaid, 3 Toon Gemini Elf, 3 Toon Goblin Attack Force and 2 Toon Alligator, Spirit Ryu, Flame Manipulator and Masaki (2 each), 2 Flame Swordsman and 3 Dark Magician. Also, 3 Magician of Black Chaos, Toon Dark Magician Girl, Toon World, 3 Blue Eyes Toon Dragon and 3 Toon Summoned Skull.

Here is da effect 4 Chimeratech Overdragon: "Cyber Dragon" + 1 or more Machine-Type monsters This monster cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon. When this card is Fusion Summoned, send all the cards on your side of the field to the Graveyard except this card. The original ATK and DEF of this card become the number of Fusion Material Monsters you used for the Fusion Summon of this card x 800 points. This card can attack as many of your opponent's monsters each turn as the number of Fusion Material Monsters you used for the Fusion Summon of this card.

and also with overload fusion is it game over here is da effect 4 overload fusion Fusion Material Monsters that are listed on a DARK Machine-Type Fusion Monster Card, and Special Summon that 1 Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck. (This Special Summon is treated as a Fusion Summon.)

and perfect machine king starts at 2700 and gets 500 for every machine, so if there both on the feild they make eachother stronger. but personally i prefer my e-hero deck.

Run 3 ojama trios to close off opponents monster zone. 9 Toons: 3 gemini, 1 goblin, 2 toon dark magician girl, 2 mermaid, 1 cannon soldier. 3 Toon table and 3 toon world make sure you can get toons or toon world to field. They are also good deck thinners. You need to mix with a balance of non-toon monsters. go to yugiohforums.com and search for advanced toon deck. I have full explanation of how the deck works. Add vengeful bog spirit and your opponent will have the same limitation as you. Also remember, you can strategically play your scapegoat to get tributes for your TDMG. I would stick to 2 and only 1-2 mermaids they are special summon and you can also use them to tribute for TDMG to attack same turn, but they attack with 500lp cost. Pot of avarice will allow you to repopulate your deck with toons if you lose too many with TW destruction. Giant trunade is a savior. You can use it and the toons don't go to graveyard. save it til next turn or put it back on the field, free and clear of S/T...

Reply:Commons are usually 10-50 cents depending on what they are, and rares generally run between 1-4 bucks, except in some cases (like Cyber Dragon) where you'd want to check eBay.

For holograms, check eBay listings.

Then cut a percentage off the total for the buyer being your friend, and you're set. Either that, or save the trouble and give the cards to your friend as a birthday present or something.

British Yu-Gi-Oh cards are the same as American cards. English cards are recognized by the letters EN after the set abbreviation and a dash. Example...Elemental Hero Neos has a collectors number of POTD-EN001. If it were POTD-JPN001 then it would be Japanese. I don't know what the Asian-English cards have on them.

I have written an article about fake Yu-Gi-Oh cards that is linked below.

Not all cards are holographic and there are a lot of Japanese cards out there. You may want to take them to a card shop and see what a dealer thinks.

The backs of all yugioh cards should match, with the exception of the language. Exceptions are "God Cards", but those are holographic. If you have a book store nearby you might also see if you can find a Beckett Yu-Gi-Oh Price guide on the shelf and try looking up the cards in the guide. Numbers work the same in all languages!

The best most reliable way is to scale them. If you go to ebay and buy a pocket scale for around 20 bucks you can use it and scale packs. This is what you do. You take the packs put and weigh each of them individually. You take the heaviest packs and leave the rest. Usually you take about 7-8 of the heaviest packs. This method maybe difficult because the packs maybe be inside a cardboard case like at wal mart. If you have access to a local hobby shop and the owner allows you to scale then you are in luck because it is most accurate that way. Just be sure to thank the owner for allowing you to scale.
Reply:there is no real easy way to tell if you have chosen a pack with a ultra rare card in it... somtimes if u can feel the pack an compare another booster pack u might notice a bit of a thickness in them, chances are that the rarest and most valuable card (u know the ones that are all shiny) those types of cards tend to bend an curve alil, its still hard to tell, i bought a few Jaden Yuki 2 packs an i felt 2 packs an one of them was alil thicker, wen i bought it an chose it i got a Elemental Hero Dark Neos, i wouldnt say i new it was a ultra rare card, but ya it is somtimes easy to tell if u chose a rare card... but still its no sure thing that u got a good pack...

I'm trying to build a volcanic deck also. i don't have a deck list right now, but i do have almost all of the cards i need. you can play a volcanic burn, which involves volcanic slicer (500 pts to lp, but can't attack), tri-blaze acclerator (monster removal and 500 dmg), and solar flare dragon (500 at the end of your turns). other burn cards such as tremendous fire, stealth bird, bowganian, and a few other cards are useful in a burn deck. i don't think wild fire's really good since you have to lose an acclerator. volcanic doomfire's good, but not if you're making a burn deck.

go to upperdeck website and check the tournament locator and card shop locator in your area. most likely they will be the same place. anyways tournaments are probably teh best place to trade or sell cards. i wouldnt suggest selling them directly to the card shop. they are still a business and will be looking to get their best deal. research how much your cards are worth and try to get the most you can. the card shops in my area have often offered me half what my cards are worth, thinking i was some stupid kid that didnt know price of cards.

However, I have another suggestion. Since I believe that not many people in your area play yugioh (Otherwise, you would be able to get them with relatively ease without asking how to get them here.) I think you should download Yugioh Virtual Desktop.

hey guys, I was wondering if many people still play yugioh (not just older ones.)

I have about 1,000 yugioh cards from older packs and series, mainly ones from early 2006 and late 2005 are the most recent cards I own.

I wanted to know If I should put my old cards in a corner and get some of the newer ones.

Are tournaments still hosted alot and do older people still play YuGiOh? (By that I mean 16-30 or something.)

I'd hate to go to tournaments and be playing against only kids.

Reply:Oh man, I was in the same position as you. I had all my 2004-2005. I had 838 cards. I started to ask online too, to see if anyone still played it. Well I got a lot of mix results... then I ignored it. A couple of friends of mine later, well I asked them if they wanted to play yugioh for fun. Since we we're bored.

That was in November 07. Now somehow more than 20 of my friends got back into the game and really friends who had supposedly neglected yugioh and some who never had played it before. They came out of the shadows and admitted they loved it. We've all upgraded our decks, I barely recently. Now we play every weekend Saturdays and Sundays.

Its ridiculous to see so many people dueling at once. Oh and dont trip, me and my friends are all 18 and over. We've enjoyed it so far. We play using Traditional and Advance. 4 of us uses Advance and the rest are still adjusting using the Traditional format. If you have a lot of friends start discussing it with them. I was kinda emberrased at first to ask, but now that I did I've never been so happy. I'm currently only with the new Gold and Phantom Darkness, and pretty soon with Light of Destruction, so there ya' go. It's never too late. Trust me you'll have lots of fun.

Alternatively, the other way of selling cards would be to check out local stores where people play the game and you can sell it to them over there. Just familiarize yourself with the prices before you sell them so that you don't get ripped. The material they use to make the holo cards weighs more, but thats so hard to tell without a scale. But the material is also more dense, so if you squeeze the pack the ones that feel a little thicker with less give, it has a holo. Trust

You can check current prices on http://yugico.com/ for yu-gi-oh cards and http://www.playhere.com/pokemon/pricegui... for pokemons. Maybe you have some real rare cards?

Reply:I'd recommend checking out eBay. Go look for other cards like the ones you may want to sell. See which ones are selling and which ones aren't. See what information is given and what price is asked.

Once you've seen how they go (or don't) I'd also use Dogpile or Google and look up "pokemon cards sale" or some such thing. See where else they're selling. Have a look around, do a little research, and then have fun selling your stuff.

Yes but go to P O J O forums. You can trade. Look for members like The Kingpin of Cardboard, Parallel Fates and The-Punisher. They all trade well and wont rip you.

yeah theres no problem with mixing the two.in fact i belive it makes the decks better.i use old school cards with new school cards.like monster reborn.i know its banned but i dont play tournys.i run a dino deck with a special monster.but im not reveling that card.

Reply:Yes. Yugioh GX merely refers to cards based from the series GX. (All packs from the Lost Millennium pack to the current). There is no difference in the cards, so you can use cards from either eras with no problem.
